Danube Rhapsody
8 days: Passau to Budapest to Passau

This Classic cruise down the Danube gives you a completely new “take” on the culture and scenery flanking this mighty European river. From the Bavarian city of Passau, this week-long round trip takes you first to Vienna, the city that combines the glamour of its former imperial status with the charm and friendly welcome of today’s Austria.

The next leg takes you to UNESCO-protected Budapest, with its triumphal buildings on both sides of the river exuding a grandeur you’ll never forget.

On the return voyage our AMADEUS ship moors in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, which has an imposing fortified castle and various Baroque palaces. Further upstream it passes through the scenic beauties of the Wachau region. The cultural treasures of the towns of Krems and Dürnstein are nearby, as is also the Benedictine Abbey of Melk. The ship then continues to end the cruise back in Passau.

Classical Rhine
8 days – Basel to Amsterdam or reverse

A cruise on the Rhine is always a most rewarding experience. It’s one of the world’s greatest industrial waterways but is also blessed with fine scenery and plenty of sights to see. Our “Classic Rhine” cruises, which ply from Basel, Switzerland’s highly cultural second city, all the way downstream to Amsterdam, guarantee you one cultural or scenic highlight after another as both kinds abound on this stretch of the Rhine.

Just some of these highlights are Basel, where Germany meets France and both meet Switzerland at the gateway to the Swiss Alps; Strasbourg, the thriving capital of Alsace with its French charm; the central part of the Rhine valley with its numerous castles and the Lorelei rock; Cologne with its historic treasures and Romanesque churches and Amsterdam’s picturesque canals.

This cruise can be taken in both directions, namely downstream from Basel to Amsterdam as well.
