Rampur Mandi Forest Rest House

rampur-mandi-asan-forest-rest-house

Rampur Mandi got this suffix ‘mandi’ as it was the storage point during British times when timber from the hills was transported through the Yamuna river to the plains, Built in 1990, the FRH here is located along the river Yamuna. The old FRH across the river was washed away in the floods of 1978.
It is an ideal stopover for the Asan barrage wetland which attracts a large number of migratory birds including the largest population of brahminy duck (ruddy shelduck) in north India. The campus also houses the Uttarakhand Forest Guards Training Institute.
The Ponta Sahib Gurudwara, a revered shrine of the Sikhs is also a good visit from the rest house.
