Jageshwar FRH is 35 km from Almora on the Almora-Pithoragarh (bifurcation at Artola) road. It was built in 1955-56 at an altitude of 1693m, amidst deodar and thuner forests. Close-by is the cluster of 124 ornamented Jageshwar temples and statues built by the Chand rulers in a serene narrow valley surrounded by magnificent and the oldest deodar grove of Kumaon. Grand fairs are held during Shivratri and Sawan. A trek to Bridha (old) Jageshwar temple, the source of the Jata Ganga which stats amidst ancient trees is worth the effort.
