Deoban Forest Rest House

Deoban FRH was built in 1954 and is located at a commanding height of 2814m amidst majestic forests of deodar, oak, fir and spruce. It was inaugurated by the Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Late Shri K.M. Munshi in the year 1954. The area gets heavy snow and hence, has a closed verandah. Deoban may be accessed from Chakrata on rough motor road to Deoban. Byas Shikhar at height of 2880m, offers a panoramic view of 12 major Himalayan peaks, nine of Uttarakhand including Nanda Devi and three of Himanchal Pradesh. At the viewpoint, a stone plaque indicated the names of the peaks visible with their heights. A drive up to Moliya Tibba grassland is through thick deodar forest. Alpine meadows with medicinal and aromatic plants are at close distance. The meadows are used by Gujjars for summer camping which is eroding these pristine grasslands. A well maintained and highly acclaimed high altitude medicinal & aromatic plants nursery is located near the FRH.
